A little bit about myself…
A picture taken from my winter as a Deckhand on the F/V Captain Raleigh.
Raised in a rural setting in Central Oregon, I have always loved being outside. Throughout my twenties, I held many jobs in more than a few career fields, but it was all in the name of trying new things and paying the bills so I could go play in the woods. In the winter of 2015, a friend working in Forestry gave me the confidence to pivot towards a career in forest management. The following spring, with some encouraging words and a $5 pair of interview slacks, I landed a job with the Oregon Department of Forestry as a wildland firefighter.Within two years I was a Forest Officer on call 24/7, responsible for my own patrol area of 40,000 acres and fire crews of up to 6. The three summers I spent at ODF provided many lessons in responsibility, teamwork, pride and leadership. Although this experience was incredibly formative, my time as a seasonal employee came to an end and it was time to decide on my next path. And while forest management will always be a personal passion, what I really fell in love with was working with geospatial technologies. As an intelligent and active person, my hobbies have always shaped my life. I enjoy fishing, hiking, reading, writing, building drones and collecting antique books & maps. Naturally, when deciding upon a career path I looked for something that would fit my personality and GIS couldn’t be a better fit. Pairing my genuine interest in and growing knowledge of GIS technologies with real world experience using these technologies, I believe that I am the perfect candidate for any entry level GIS position.I currently live in Oregon City with my lovely fiancé and our young coonhound, Wiley Bob. I am seeking employment opportunities throughout the Willamette Valley and most of Oregon, although I am open to venturing outside of the state of Oregon if the right opportunity comes along.
