A little bit about myself…

Raised in a rural setting in Central Oregon, I have always loved being outside. Throughout my twenties I held many jobs in a few career fields, but it was always in the name of following my passions and playing in the woods.
In the winter of 2015, while living in Northwest Oregon, a friend working in reforestation gave me the confidence to pivot towards a career in forest management. The following spring, with some encouragement and a $5 pair of interview slacks, I landed a job with the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) as a wildland firefighter.
Within two years I was a Forest Officer on call 24/7, responsible for my own patrol area of 40,000 acres and fire crews of up to 6. The three summers I spent with ODF provided many lessons in responsibility, teamwork, pride and leadership. Although this experience was incredibly formative, my interest working in the field came to an end and it was time to decide on my next path. Forest management will always be a personal and professional passion, however, through my experience in forestry I found an equal passion; geospatial technologies and the world of GIS!
I continued my relationship with ODF during this transition, working full time as a GIS intern while I obtained my GIS certificate from Clackamas Community College, completing 80 credits in seven terms with a 4.0. I was then offered a position to work for the Forestry Department as an Information Systems Specialist, where I spent about 6 months creating solutions for complex database problems as well as performing myriad analyses in Python, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
In September of 2020 I continued my passion of working in natural resources and accepted a position working at SWCA Environmental Consultants as a GIS Specialist. I spent most of my days performing heads-up digitization of wetland and riparian habitats for the National Wetland Inventory through a contract with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
In the spring of 2021 I accepted a position with Clatsop County as a GIS Technician, returning to the town of Astoria where my journey in natural resource management and GIS began. I am currently employed by the county and proudly contribute to the GIS department's public facing ArcGIS Online applications and cartographic deliverables.
In my free time I enjoy hunting and hiking with my dog, fly fishing, reading, writing, building drones and collecting antique books & maps. I live in Astoria, Oregon with my young family and I am open to employment opportunities throughout the Pacific Northwest.
